WOMEN’S MISSIONARY UNION MINISTRY INFORMATION

The core ministerial work of the Women’s Missionary Union is action oriented and involves developing and implementing programs that help people spiritually as well as in some tangible way and is performed by believers who are willing to serve.

We invite each woman in our Church family to put your gifts and skills to work in advancing the Kingdom of the Lord through involvement in the WMU. You are encouraged to strengthen your personal relationship with the Lord as you discover your own particular area of interest. There is a place for you to serve!

There are seven Units/Circles which provide many areas of ministry opportunities:

(1)     Abigail Circle:  Provides support and assistance to youth and senior members in our Church and the Community.

(2)     Deborah CircleMinisters to the physical and spiritual needs of the children of the Miller Child Development Center.  It also provides a continuous link to the sick and shut- in members through cards, telephone calls and visits.

(3)     Earnest Workers Circle:  Ministers to Church families when a death occurs in their immediate family.  Telephone contact and home visitation is made to offer assistance according to family needs.  The circle also offers two Grief Seminars during the year (spring and fall).  In addition, the circle supports “Women at the Well”, a support program to help formerly incarcerated women transition back into the community.

(4)     Esther Circle:  Provides on-going support to Christian Assistance Ministry.

(5)     Nannie Helen Burroughs Circle:  Provides an extensive Outreach Ministry to senior members of the Church who are in nursing homes or are home bound.

(6)     Rebekah Circle:  Provides extensive support to the SAMM Shelter (San Antonio Methodist Ministry). Last year, over 1,500 tooth brushes were collected and donated to the shelter.  The circle annually adopts a family and provides Christmas Cheer.  In addition, the circle assists in the preparation for the Church’s Early Morning Service Breakfast, and continues to assist the Choral Readers with their special activities.

(7)     Willing Workers Circle:  Provides a Bread ministry to the Church and a School Supply Ministry for youth in the Church and community.  They also have an advertisement ministry and a proposed Travelers ministry to reach- out to persons visiting the city.  Their latest undertaking is to complete a Video Cookbook.
